Afterlife

I 've tried several times this kind of shot, and in my case I've got good results by using filling flash. Another trick, with better results although more complicated, is to get some reflecting white surface, also to difumine the shadows. And to avoid lens flare, just cover it a bit under the shadow of your hand.
